Someone At A Distance, by Dorothy Whipple

See the link above to take you to my book review of Someone At A Distance, by Dorothy Whipple, on my Lil Bit Brit Lit Blog; where the key character is a French Au Pair, Louise Lanier.  Not sure if this meets the criteria for Paris in July, but this writer has an amazingly keen insight into French village life of the 1950s. and the social structure of the day.

I also think it is the best of Dorothy Whipple's books, it might have been the last book she wrote or close to it.

Published by Persephone Books.
