Hi Dear Folk,
From our ship we could look right across the road to old town Stavanger. Gamle is an area of 18th century wooden houses. In the twenties it was considered the slum area of town. After WWII a plan was put into action to rebuild Stavanger but one architect Einen Hedan said that they should preserve part of the city.
They chose the most undesirable area on the west side of Vagen the inner harbour area of Stavanger. Over the years it has changed and is now the trendy area to live.
It was a delight walking around these cobbled streets.
Even a little park area to sit.

What a charming place to visit! I loved the cobblestone roads undulating up and down the hillsides and the darling cottages all cozy together. What a wonderful place!!
