Hi Dear Folk,
There is no word in the English language that covers losing a child. If a wife loses a husband you are a widow, if a husband loses a wife you are a widower. If children lose their parents they are orphans, but if parents lose a child or children there is no word in the English language that covers that.
I do wonder if in another language there is a word for that.

I don't know, Christy. The only word that comes to mind is heartbroken...Do take care. ♥
ReplyDeleteNever thought of that - you are right! I'll bet some languages cover that.
ReplyDeleteNot in greek that I can think of though they have a word for just about everything else!
ReplyDeleteI see we have been watching the same video and that thought struck me for the first time when I watched it.
ReplyDeleteI have never really thought about that. That kind of pain is unimaginable to someone that has not had that awful experience. There SHOULD be a word for it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thought. There is no 'title' that I can recall but the word that comes to mind is bereft. Totally and completely bereft.
ReplyDeleteHeart rendering.
