Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a district in London on the eastern fringes of the West End, between St. Martin's Lane and Drury Lane.  It was the former fruit and vegetable market.  When I think of Covent Garden it reminds me of My Fair Lady, with Audrey Hepburn sitting there selling flowers, and of course it is on the edge of the theatre district, from which her customers would come.

  1. Like a lot of London Covent garden has become very up-market but good fun as always plenty going on. Too crowded at weekends though. A bit different from My Fair Lady!

  2. I was there in 99 with my sister on a grey drizzly day...loved it! Saw a silver statue of a man that turned out to be a REAL man who scared the heck out of me when he moved. Also enjoyed a string quartet called Sigma String Quartet (go figure!) which was 3 or 4 young men who played wonderfully! From there it was to the London Museum...it was a WONDERFUL Day. Hope your day was a good one too. Maura (Lilac Lane Cottage)
