19th September 2018 A Disappointment, Internet Cafe and Captain's Dinner

Hi Dear Folk,

We got back to the ship on time for our 2:00 PM departure and were partaking of a late lunch when it was announced that we would be spending another night in Stavanger due to the bad weather.  This was a great disappointment as now we would miss the Geiranger Fjord that we truly wanted to see.  So Jean and I thought well we might as well make the most of the rest of our day and go back into town.

We thought we would visit another museum just down from the ship that we hadn't had time to view, what we didn't realize is that everything well especially the museums closes up at three PM.  The girl there was nice enough to say we could come back tomorrow and tour and could use our cannery museum ticket as it covered several museums.

View from our docked ship.

I think those tall chimneys must belong to the Sardine Cannery.

We thought let's have a wonder back into town.  By then it was getting quite blustery and you could tell that a storm was coming in.  Our minds moved to a nice cup of coffee.  We found ourselves an Internet cafe and settled down for at least an hour.  I was able to call my son and chat with him and Jean with her family.  We sat outside on those cushioned benches and felt quite snug as we watched the world pass by.

As you can see at that time of year, things close up quite early, there's not too much going on.

It was announced that since we would be in port for the evening they would serve the Captain's Dinner.  Here we are all dressed up for that.  It was hard to feel complete enthusiasm because of the reason why we were still in port.

I did pose with my wristlets on, remember the ones I made in brocade, lace, pearls and crystals, but did not wear them to dinner, chickened out on that just seemed too much.

While we sat there we overheard different passengers speaking about taking a Fjord boat trip out of Stavanger on a local tour, since we would be there all next morning, so that is what we decided to do.

Christine
