Clock Change Standard Time

I know I'm late on this, because the time in North American changed last Sunday.  However I am finding that I do not do well with time change.  Why can't we keep it the same all year round, wouldn't that make more sense and keep it on Summertime.

I woke up this morning thinking it was six and no it was seven, action stations, my body seems to ache all over and I am tired.

I know during WWII in the UK they had what they called double summer time to take advantage of all the daylight that they could on the farms.  But things have changed since we were more an agrarian society. They even have harvesters running all through the night with lights on.  I couldn't believe this fact happens in the fields behind my old house where I grew up, how things change.

So keep the clocks at summertime.

And while I'm on pet peeves about time.  Why do children especially teenagers in the USA have to be at school at 7:15AM or a tad later and finish school at 2:30PM. This again I think goes back to America being deeply rooted in a farming community heritage. Studies show that teenagers especially do not work well at those early hours. Also parents do not usually get home from work until 5:00 or 6:00 PM leaving children all that time on their own.  I used to go to school in the UK from 9:00Am to 4:00PM, so by the time I got home it was around 5:00PM or later.

So those are my pet peeves on time.

  1. I can't see the point of it either especially when I did night work and it made the shift an hour longer in the spring. I noticed on our American calendars that you changed the clocks so that confused Paul as ours don't change until the end of the month. He forgot the calendars were from USA.

    1. Poor Paul, I know the UK is different and for a couple of weeks there is only four hours time difference between us.

  2. I'm totally with you on the time change. I just wrote about it on my blog, too. There are actually studies showing the incidence of heat attacks and car accidents go up in the days following the change.
