This is a very easy recipe, may not look so good in my photo, but it tastes good, served warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
- 5 cups of bread, cubed (half a Baguette or Challah, or a nice hearty bread)
- 2 cups of half-and half
- 3 large eggs, well beaten
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree
- 1/2 stick melted butter
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- Butter an 11 x 7 inch baking dish. fill with cubed bread
- Heat oven to 350 f
- Combine all remaining ingredients and pour over bread
- Allow to sit for 10 minutes, cover with foil and then bake for 45 minutes. Uncover, bake an additional 5 minutes
- Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or whipped cream. Feel free to embellish this recipe with dried cranberries, raisins, nuts or candied ginger.
