Another Day In The Salt Mines
Well another day has whizzed by, busy very hectic.
Rob and I did go to the Thai/Vietnamese Restaurant and it was very nice. The decor was the nicest I've seen in a long while in an Asian Restaurant, very tasteful. Some nice stained glass and a lovely mosaic, star lights hanging from the ceiling.
I had a chicken and cashew nut sauteed dish, rob had a stir fry with noodles, mine was with rice. Half way through we swapped Rob found his a little heavy, mine was very good. We started off with a spring roll appetizer and ended with a very, very sweet jelly grass drink.
We sat and chatted and just enjoyed it so much, the price was pretty good too.
No pics because Number One Son would be embarrassed if mum were to walk in with her camera and take photos.
It's a cool evening but not cold enough for the wood fire, so I'm enjoying the gas fire in the Simla room, instant heat. It's raining outside and I can hear the drops hitting the metal chimney shield, it has that rain on a tin roof effect.
Rob, Rob presented me with an anniversary gift from him and his dad. A very nice gold and silver watch. It was a day late because teenage boys just plain forget things. Even though he bought it on time.
Well I'm going to do a little mystery reading.

My Saturday
My Saturday has been lazy. A slow start in my PJ's writing a letter drinking tea. Tink on my lap in the Simla room, what could be nicer.
I needed it, busy week at work, Tax season is starting and we do all the tax forms for the State of DE, 70,000 employees and I have to make sure all the electronic files are where they're meant to be on time, along with envelopes, so no messing up there.
I woke up in the wee hours of the morning with a terrible migraine, so I was glad that by morning I was feeling better.
The afternoon has whizzed by, as a friend came over and fixed my toilet cistern which was leaking and put a new toilet seat on. I had to dash to Walmart for this, it was badly needed as the other one had split off on the side, and if you weren't careful gave a nasty nip. All this made me clean the bathroom and wash the shower curtain; which all needed badly doing.
I actually got out of Walmart without having to go to customer service, that's an accomplishment, and my gift card actually had the money on it that was meant to be there. Last time I sent Rob in with it the lady said it didn't work and would I like to, yes you've guessed it, go to customer service. No I would not like to go to customer service at 10:00 PM at night, when I only wanted one gallon of milk and now it was become a whole episode, as Rob had to come back out of the store and get me to come in and pay for it.
I'm sitting in the Simla room, the sun is going down, and along comes a monarch butterfly October 8th I think she's a little late in the neighborhood as they all fly to Mexico for the winter, of course it's not the ones that begin the journey that make it there. But lovely to see her enjoying the last of summer, our Indian Summer.
Rob and I are treating ourselves tonight to Thai/Vietnamese, not sure what that will be like, but a school friend recommended it, so should be fun. I've always wanted to try a Vietnamese sandwich which I heard of on TV. It's served in French Bread, the French colonial influence there, but the insides are all Vietnamese, I'm dying to try one and wonder whether they will have it here. It was rated a number one sandwich in the world, along with a shark bake from Tobago. Hope to one day get there as my friend Alicia comes from there.
Will let you know what the restaurant was like.

The Last Graduation Party of The Year Stephen

This is the last graduation party of 2011 Stephen's.
The party would have been on the lawn out back, but it's rained so much it was far too wet, so it was held on the driveway, which worked out well.
You can see the evenings are pulling in quickly and it was cool.
Nice to see old friends, especially a couple who used to be in our congregation but are now in a Vietnamese group, Jason and Chantey.
Robert came a little later on his own after going to the Gym and shopping. He left a note saying gone to J.C. Penny's. So I said "You went to the mall Robert?" "No, I went to the shop near Starbucks." "You mean T.J. Maxx Robert? "Ye mum, you know, the shop with two letters and a name." He made Maria and I laugh.

Eye Candy a Gem and Jewelry Show
Let me take you to a Gem and Jewelry Show. It is a beautifully colourful event. Such glories dug up from the depths of the earth. Here is a colourful Indian girl, I just had to take her photo, her costume was so lovely.
Cindy with all her loot. Ready to make more beautiful creations. We do have a lot of fun, looking, seeking and just sharing our creative thoughts.
The one place I should have taken a photo of I did not. Bora, a jewelry maker from Brooklyn, I think he was Israeli. He worked in silver and bronze with semi precious and precious stones. Both Cindy and I loved his style, we both bought pieces.
Cindy bought rose quartz earrings in silver and bronze and a pendant with a Brazilian emerald, silver and bronze. I bought a ring chalcedony, which is a pale green stone, worked in silver and bronze.
Cindy and I negotiated a deal on the three pieces we bought paying $20.00 less as we paid in cash.
When we got back to Cindy's, Cindy and Steve said we want to give you the ring as an anniversary present. That was such a lovely surprise.
While we were at his stand chatting he showed us a piece he had just sold to Anthropology, it was a pomegranate ring, I just loved it. When he said he didn't have a website we thought when his jewelry hits the winter catalog the prices will be much more.
So I thought about it and the next day Sunday I went back for it. I had an old gold bangle which was broken, so I took it to a gold buyer and got almost the entire amount in cash that I needed to buy the ring. It was all very fortuitous.
I will have to take photos of my rings. You will either love the pomegranate one or hate it I think. I call it my Biblical ring, pomegranates are very Biblical. The ring is three pomegranates set with little rubies and two emeralds on the side, with a branch coming up either side. All in silver and bronze.

I just sent my 2009 Lil Bit Brit Blog Book to Blurb to print up. I had to get it in before the 30th September to use my 20% off coupon. I always mean to print up a PDF and proof read it, before I send it to print, but always seem to run out of time.

Sunday Graduation Party, Mike's
Two graduation parties, a full weekend. Lots of little children at this one. Rob on the floor communing with a two year old.

This is the second set of blooms on my orchid. I put it outside in all that rain and it just loved it and put out another set of flowers. I also bought a white orchid in a clearance sale, so hope I can coax this along too. Probably next spring.

Jazz Ming Handmade Jewelry
This was my Saturday morning helping a friend at a Craft and Farmer's Market. It was quite local, I got to walk around and try a local vineyard wine tasting, plus some good humus, sell a little jewelry and spend time with a friend.
It was nice to sit and chat, look at all Cindy's lovely creations, and just chill out. I'll have to show you the lovely set of earrings she gave me for helping out.
