Ikea Lights
This circular light has sat in our garage for several years. I bought it on clearance at IKEA. Hubby found it in the garage and decided to put it up. It's fun to have up for a while.

Fitzwater Station, PA
This is a little community, that sits beside a canal, it's quite picturesque and not too far from where we live. Now and again we run over to Produce Junction and we always take the back way, so that we can drive alongside the canal and through this little community.

Our Winter Wood Pile
We had one cord of wood left over from last winter, so that is nice and seasoned. We have added two more cords here and another cord is on order for delivery next week. Three cords usually gets us though the winter.
It feels good to see it stacked up ready for the winter cold.

Thrift Shop Finds this Summer
Things I found at the thrift this summer. I was thrifting with my friend this week and she said I find it very therapeutic, and I think it probably is. I don't travel any distance because there is a very large one so close to me.
Plates .50 cents each. Sixties stacking cups. Retro pics hot-plate. What do you think the other little holders are for? Well if I hadn't seen a glass one at a friends with teaspoons in I would never have known. They're to stack cutlery in. Corn dishes from France, yes France, not made in China.
Book on scones, well a Brit wouldn't pass that by. A book on canning, but I like to call it 'jaring', because even the term bottling doesn't sound right to me. Old mixer book.

Room for Winter
Comfortable sofa, with small Eastlake sofa in front of the window. |
Do you remember that I put my dining room table in the sitting room and visa-verso. Well I did think that I would get to give a dinner party and use my lovely long dining room table with both the leaves in; which I can't do when it is in the smaller dining room. But with all that is going on in my life I just didn't think it would come together. As we have to use the wood stove to heat the house, it needed to be changed back.
These are the two captain's chairs that go with the dining room set, but we decided just to put the four chairs around the table and not to over-crowd it. Actually I rather like them here. |
My dragon-fly lamp has always been a favourite of mine, so moved it here on my Eastlake table with the Eastlake mirror on the wall above. It's such a cosy lamp. |
My hubby's mother's desk, which he refinished. With an Eastlake shelf above. |
Not always good to get rid of things, sometimes your glad you kept them, especially when finances are low. So now we're ready for winter.
One day I'll have that dinner party!

Tomato Soup and a Vintage Wine
Tomato soup from our over abundance from the garden, although they are coming to an end now. Actually it's tomato and carrot. The tomatoes are roasted and the carrots are added to cut the acidity and give it sweetness, plus they're a great thickener when you puree it. I got the recipe from Soule Mama.
When Bo was getting the sofa out of the garage and clearing things up, he found this old demijohn of wine I made. I knew I had another one but could not find it. I made it when Rob was about three, so at least 13 years old. Made from the vines in my old garden at our previous house. It's a very dry wine with a slight mustiness, but very good. With Tuscan bread, a great meal.
